Gülen Schools Pose National Security Threat to the United States

As President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan visits Washington DC this week, lawyer Robert Amsterdam spoke with the North Jersey Record about the visit, highlighting the issues pertaining to the controversial conduct of charter schools belonging to the US-based fugitive Fethullah Gülen. Excerpt below:

An attorney working for the Turkish government said the agenda also included a string of American charter schools, including some in North Jersey, connected to the cleric, Fethullah Gulen, that he argued pose a national security threat.

“These schools are literally an attempt to develop sleeper cells,” attorney Robert Amsterdam said. «This is a very dangerous organization that is a wolf in sheep’s clothing, it’s educating well in excess of 60,000 American children, and they’re stealing the United States blind.»
