Maria Bisila Torao Garcia is an Associate based in London. Maria focuses her practice in international arbitration, complex multi-jurisdictional disputes and human rights. Since joining Amsterdam and Partners LLP in 2018, Maria has worked representing individuals and corporations in high-value cases in commercial arbitration disputes and multi-jurisdictional commercial matters. Maria has also worked on several international human rights issues as part of the firm’s pro-bono practice.
Before joining the firm, she worked for a government agency as a legal consultant. Maria also worked for an international human rights organization where she gained experience working with international human rights law, transitional justice and peacebuilding as well as questions of Human Rights and Business with a focus on Latin America. Previously, Maria worked as an intern and legal assistant in the private sector in Spain and Sweden.
Maria is qualified in Spain. She holds two Masters of Laws in International Investment Treaty Law from Uppsala University and Commercial Arbitration from Stockholm University and a law degree from the University of Malaga. Maria is fluent in Spanish, English, French and Swedish.
