Juliya Arbisman


Juliya is an experienced Solicitor and a Solicitor Advocate who joined Amsterdam & Partners from Clifford Chance LLP (London) and from the Wall-Street firm Stroock & Stroock Lavan LLP (New York).

Juliya’s core practice includes international arbitration and complex commercial litigation. She has represented companies in cross-border investigations into suspected market conduct and business crime.

Many of her cases concern heightened risk industries and jurisdictions. Representative recent matters concerned pensions, construction and extractives industries in Namibia, Nigeria, Cyprus and Russia.

In addition Juliya specializes in risk advisory and corporate governance work with a focus on anti-corruption. Juliya acted as a Special Legal Advisor to the UN Global Compact on the 10th Principle (Anti-Corruption) and is part of the Law Society’s working group evaluating the application of the Ruggie principles on business and human rights to the practice of law.

Juliya also specializes in international public law and human rights. She has conducted many judicial reviews, including the first judicial consideration of admissibility of Wikileaks cables, and has broad experience with the Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg in cases concerning the protection of life, property and due process.

Juliya serves as an elected member of the Law Society’s Human Rights Committee and the Human Rights Lawyers Association. She is the recipient of the Law Society’s “Woman of the Year Award” for her probono work.

She is fluent in Russian and proficient in Spanish.
