Israr Khan

Israr Khan is a Senior Associate at Amsterdam & Partners LLP. He specialises in international arbitration, cross-border commercial disputes and public international law, with particular experience in investor-State arbitration, human rights litigation and disputes arising in politically sensitive jurisdictions. Israr acts for corporate and individual clients in high-stakes claims against States, State-owned entities and major financial institutions, and works alongside the firm's advocacy teams on matters where legal strategy must be integrated with a wider political and media strategy.

He is currently acting for the claimant in a USD 100 million+ ICSID arbitration against the Republic of Uzbekistan. His broader experience spans disputes under double taxation treaties and international exchange-of-information procedures, European Convention on Human Rights and EU law matters including in relation to Armenia, cross-border share issues and shareholder rights, a technology startup dispute concerning directors' duties and control of the company, and payment protection insurance mis-selling claims against major UK banks.

Israr is a registered mediator with the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. He is a DPhil candidate in Socio-Legal Studies at the University of Oxford's Faculty of Law, and a former President of the Oxford Union.
