Liliya Aubakirova
Liliya Aubakirova is a Partner at Amsterdam & Partners LLP. She specialises in multi-jurisdictional and cross-border disputes, including human rights, international arbitration and litigation, and anti-corruption. Her primary focus is on the CIS area, where she assisted in matters involving Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, and others.

Liliya has assisted in the firm’s representation of the Republic of Türkiye against the Gülen movement. With one of her primary areas of focus being the CIS, she has also taken on a central role in the successful defence of one of Central Asia’s more prominent businessmen, Ulugbek Shadmanov. Currently, Liliya, along with Managing Partner Robert Amsterdam, is leading the firm’s efforts in its representation of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and key benefactor of the Armenian Apostolic Church, Samvel Karapetyan, entrenching Amsterdam & Partners LLP’s focus on religious freedom.
Liliya graduated with a BA Hons (First class) in International Relations from the Eurasian National University in Astana. She holds an MA in International Relations from King’s College London. She obtained a Graduate Diploma in Law and an LPC from the University of Law in London. Liliya speaks English, French, Kazakh and Russian. She is a qualified solicitor in England and Wales.
