Robert Amsterdam is a globally recognized lawyer with decades of experience in high-profile cases across emerging markets. As founding partner of Amsterdam & Partners LLP, with offices in London and Washington, D.C., he represents sovereign states, political leaders, multinational corporations, and high-net-worth individuals.

Amsterdam is known for his human rights advocacy and his work has earned him the global pro bono dispute award from The American Lawyer.

Amsterdam’s writing has appeared in the world’s major newspapers, including the Financial Times, New York Times, and Wall Street Journal. He has been featured on Al Jazeera, BBC, Bloomberg and CNN. He writes a column on legal issues for UHNWIs for Spear’s. He hosts a podcast called Departures.

Amsterdam holds degrees from Carleton University and Queen’s University. He is a solicitor licensed in Ontario and in England and Wales.
